Residential and Commercial Services FAQs

Where should I place the can for pickup?

Your container should be placed near the street before 8 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. - Back to top

What items should not be placed in my container?

Please do not put dirt, rock, concrete, or sod in the containers. It is too heavy and could damage our equipment. Other prohibited items include flammable materials such as oil, gas, and paint or hot ashes and coals; hazardous and toxic waste, septic tank waste, unbagged animal waste or hazardous materials; automotive products including motor oil, tires, and batteries; metal and debris from construction, remodeling, or demolition projects. - Back to top

What is considered hazardous waste?

Hazardous wastes contaminate our local landfills and our environment if they are placed in with your regular trash. Items considered hazardous may have labels that use words like "danger," "warning," "caution," "caustic," "acid," "flammable," or "poison." Using common sense is usually the best preventative measure. - Back to top

What can I do if my container was not completely emptied on my pickup day?

To ensure that all trash is collected, please make sure that all garbage is bagged. Loose garbage may be left in the bottom of the container otherwise. If bagged garbage is being left in your container, please inform our office. - Back to top

What if my container was not emptied?

We do our best to run according to our service schedule, but there are times that require route changes. If your pickup day was changed due to a holiday or inclement weather, please contact our office and a member of our staff will advise you of our makeup schedule. We ask our customers to have their containers out and available for pickup by 8 am on their pickup day. This will help ensure that your pickup isn’t skipped because your garbage isn’t out. - Back to top

How can I change my service?

Please call our office to request any new services or service changes. - Back to top

When is my garbage pickup day?

If you forgot your pickup day or just moved into the area, please call our office with your address, and we will look up your service schedule. - Back to top

What Items do you accept for recycling?

We accept most metals and fibers for recycling. We DO NOT accept any items that could be considered hazardous (paint, oil, items containing Freon, etc…) - Back to top

Do you do curb-side recycling?

Not at this time. You are welcome to bring your recyclable materials to one of our locations for processing, though. - Back to top

Can I place large or bulky items out with my normal trash for pickup?

The short answer is…maybe. We recommend that customers with large or bulky items contact our office before they set them out for pickup. If these items can be picked up curb-side, they will be removed for an additional charge. - Back to top

How do I start service for my business?

Just call our office and a customer service representative will work with you to determine the appropriate container size and service frequency for your location. - Back to top

My scheduled garbage pickup was missed, what are the reasons?

Customers are commonly missed because a car or immovable object is blocking access to their container. Also, during times of heavy rain, sometimes a container may be skipped because the road to the container is impassible or the ground around the container is too soft to bear the weight of the truck. Just call us to find out the circumstance. We will get it resolved, and get your can dumped as soon as possible. - Back to top

My can is always overfilled or we need more service. What can I do?

Just call our office, and we will suggest a service level that will better fit your needs. -

I just received my first invoice and it’s more than I expected.
Can you explain?

If you just signed up for service and your first bill is more than you expected, please check the Date/Period column to see the service dates for which you are being charged. Many times, a customer’s first invoice will include a prorated charge for their first month and the complete next month. For example, a monthly customer that starts on January 15 will be billed for January 15 – February 28. Aquarterly customer that starts on January 15 will receive an invoice for January 15 – March 31. Please feel free to call and speak to us about your invoice charges at any time. - Back to top

Can I dump garbage in any dumpster?

NO. Dumpsters are paid for by individual businesses or residences. They are rented from us for private use and any damage or illegal dumping can result in a fine. - Back to top

What time will your truck be at my business/residence to empty my container?

Because route times can vary based on weather, personnel, and many other factors, we cannot reliably predict a pickup time for each customer. We ask that customers have their container out for collection by 8:00 am on their pickup day. If you have a dumpster, please make sure that it is not obstructed during this time. - Back to top

Construction/Industrial Services FAQs

This service is for a large construction/demolition/cleanup project involving a very large container called a “roll-off”. A roll-off is an 18, 20, or 30 cubic yd container for large amounts of construction or household debris. Anyone can rent these containers.

How can I rent a container for a home construction project?

Residents or Businesses can call to order a container for remodeling, yard care, etc. - Back to top

Are there any items that I can NOT place in my roll-off container?

Most anything can be placed in a roll-off container. We do ask that customers not place tires, hazardous waste, or burning debris inside the containers. Customers planning on putting concrete, shingles, dirt, or other dense materials in their box should inform us before we start service. We will work with you to select a container that is appropriate for your needs. - Back to top

Is there a weight limit on my roll-off container?

Yes. In order for us to safely transport these containers, they must be kept under a certain weight. Please refer to your rental agreement for specific limits. In the event that a container is over the stated limit, the customer will be charged for disposal by the ton. In some extreme cases, it may be necessary for the customer to remove some debris from the container so that it may be safely loaded by our truck. - Back to top

Does Sue’s provide services for construction projects?

Yes. We ask that you give us as much information about your project as possible. In particular, it is helpful for us to know how many hauls you expect to have, how often you expect to need the container emptied, and the approximate length of time you expect to keep the roll-off. Knowing this information helps us schedule accordingly to provide you with the fastest possible service. - Back to top

How quickly can you service my roll-off container?

The answer to this question varies based on your location in relation to one of our locations. Usually, if service is requested by 2:00 pm, we can complete the service by 5:00 pm the next business day. - Back to top

How is the daily rental charge calculated for my container?

Container rental is calculated based on days of inactivity. An ‘inactive’ day is a day on which the container was not delivered, serviced, or removed. Example: If a container was set on Monday, emptied on Wednesday, and removed on Friday, then the only days that would be considered ‘inactive’ would be Tuesday and Thursday. - Back to top
